Naging punong- abala ang Mataas na Paaralan Lungsod ng Heneral Santos (MPLHS) sa ginanap na Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) Entrance Examination, Sept. 24, 2011.
Kabilang sa 32 na paaralan sa Pilipinas, isa ang MPLHS sa napili na maging testing center sa Mindanao. Ayon pa kay Engr. Elmer Olea, tagapangasiwa ng nasabing eksaminasyon, napili nilang pagdausan ang nasabing paaralan sapagkat hindi lang maganda ang lugar suportado sila ng punong- guro na si G. Angelito C. Llanos, Ammabella Hapitan, Guidance Counsellor at ang aktibong testing coordinator na si Flora A. Espina.Ayon pa rin ky G. Olea, magagaling at mababait ang mga proctors na nagsilbi sa ginawang pagsusulit.

To show gratitude and praise to all the Generals, City Officials held the Thanksgiving Ceremony of the 43rd Charter Anniversary at the City Hall grounds on September 5, 2011.
The celebration was headed by Hon. Mayor Darlene Antonino- Custodio in giving thanks to all it’s constituents for making the city more progressive and competitive.
2011 National Achievement Test - GSCHS gains 7.73% upsurge

Because of the focus of the Sophomores and the collaborative efforts of teachers and staff, General Santos City High School had an increase of 7.73% in the 2011 National Achievement Test.
From 46.94% in 2010, the result moved up to 54.67%. Result shows having the highest percentage of increase among the 5 consecutive years of NAT takers in GSCHS.
GenSan celebrates 13th Tuna Fest

These were the 13th tuna festival of General Santos City as it swayed on August 26-September 5,2011.
With a theme, “Exploring New Depths, Conquering New Heights.†Festival Chairwoman Hon. Darlene Antonino-Custodio encourages everyone to join their hands for the development of the city.
“Generals are the blessing of our city, let us pray for the fortitude of General Santos, for the officials and for all its constituents.†Custodio remarked.
14 big establishments joined the Tuna Float Competition pushing up the Royal Hotel to be on top, followed by Amandari Cove And DOLE Philipines respectively.
Also, elementary and secondary schools competed on street dancing competition which mesmerized the attention of over 10,000 people. General Santos City Sped Integrated school ranked first for both category, 2nd place were Pedro Acharon Sr. Elementary school and Ireneo Santiago High School for secondary level and the third place was bagged by UCCP Christian School of Lagao for elementary and Lanton National High School.
Moreover, Karagatan Awards recognized the top 10 unsung heroes of the Tuna Industry. Other   activities include the Search for, Munting Mutya ng GenSan and Pop Idol Competition and the Search for Mr. and Ms. GenSan thrilled the Generals and the guests.
